The FBI on Tuesday issued an update to their investigation of the attack carried out by Shamsud-Din Jabbar in New Orleans on Jan. 1. The agency announced that the number of injured in the attack has now risen to 57, up from the previous count of 35, according to Axios.
“FBI Victim Services has identified at least 57 individuals who were physically injured, in addition to the 14 deceased victims, during the New Year’s Day attack. A total of 136 victims have been identified, including two businesses that suffered damages,” the agency wrote.
The FBI also said in its update that Jabbar’s internet search history included Mardi Gras and the Christmas market attack in Germany, wherein a truck rammed into innocent bystanders. They claimed that Jabbar started following “extremist views” in the spring of 2024.
