Average Age of Trump’s Top Officials Youngest Since 1989

President-elect Donald Trump’s selections for top roles in his upcoming administration would mark the youngest core of Cabinet officials and senior advisers since President George H.W. Bush in 1989, Axios reported Tuesday.

The average age of Trump’s picks for vice president, chief of staff, attorney general and secretaries of State, Treasury and Defense is 54.1; Bush’s same core was 51.5, the youngest in nearly 50 years, according to the report.

Trump’s Cabinet picks have yet to be confirmed by the Senate, but Vice President-elect J.D. Vance is 40, while Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is 67, slightly older than recent chiefs of staff, according to the report. Vance will be the third-youngest VP in history, according to the report. Dan Quayle, Bush’s vice president, was 41.
